Parental supervision is suggested.A Poem by Lee W. Deason
Medicine, for the children beating themselves inside.
There is Molly flogging herself because she is not pretty. "A little red but its okay." The parents say, comparing her to TV. It's a sad truth to swallow when you have a slit throat. We are all alone, when we need it the most. Please don't leave me here... Medicine, for the children feeding on stereotype. There I am starving to death because I refuse this. This ugly substitute for family and friends... Wake me up, me up when... We are all alone, when we need it the most. Please don't leave me here... Unattended, left to make mistakes. But you blame me, when you drape shame on my shoulders. Playing dress up with me so you can look good. A counterfeit smile. For the both of us. Children, take your medicine and be happy. It's all my father ever taught me. Of how to survive and thrive in this climate. It's a sad truth to swallow when you have a slit throat. We are all alone, when we need it the most. Please don't leave me here... Unattended, left to make mistakes. © 2008 Lee W. DeasonFeatured Review
