Up Those Golden Stairs

Up Those Golden Stairs

A Poem by norman hale

Up Those Golden Stairs

Up those golden stairs
Is where we want to go
Because, what waits at the top
Is Heaven as we all know

Hand-in-hand He'll walk with us
Right up to the pearly gate
And there good ol' St. Peter
Will read our final fate

Though those stairs are long
And, each step may seem hard to climb
Through each step He measures us
To see if we pass the tests of time

It's up these stairs we want to go
Not stumble, fall, or fail
For, if that should happen
We'd burn in the depths of Hell

So. up those stairs we go
One step or day at a time
And He'll always be with us
With every struggle of the climb

Now, don't ever give up
Nor, don't you ever give in
For, Satan is there too
Just urging you to sin

Just remember St. Peter is waiting
And God is by your side
Waiting for you to make it
It's by his word you must abide
