She Walks These Streets At Night

She walks these streets at night
Looking for a loved one , so lost
Hoping they'll return home...
Before they pay that final cost

She walks these streets at night
Looking around every turn
Crying herself to sleep
As her heart aches and churns

She walks these streets at night
Roaming always in a search
Just looking for her loved one
Even praying for them in church

She walks these streets at night
With her heart full of grief
But, she's never giving up on them
That would be against her belief

She walks these streets at night
No matter how cold it may be
And no matter, how old they might get
She knows, they'll always be her baby

She walks these streets at night
And so many think she's a bum
Never knowing her whole story
With her love, makes her better than some

She walks these streets at night
Just wishing she could hold them tight
Then, and only then, just maybe
She might get some rest at night

She walks these streets at night
Looking in every homeless box that she can
Hoping to find her loved one
And walk them home , by the hand

She walks these streets at night
No matter how cold it may be
It's her love that keeps her going
On a chance, her loved one she might see

She walks these streets at night
Like a ghost, always walking around
Calling out her loved ones name
It's such a mournful sound

She walks these streets at night
Though her loved one was sent off to war
Her memory won't let her remember that
As she walks by peaking into every car

She walks these streets at night
Oh yes, you can bet it's true
But, don't be judgemental on her
You might do the same, if it were you
