You Softly Say Goodby

You Softly Say Goodby

A Poem by norman hale

You softly say goodby
As you turn and walk away
The wind starts a mournful cry
Things should never end this way

I follow you to the next room
And tell you "good night"
You stare at me with a gloom
As I ask if you are alright

You just give me a shrug
With just your shoulder
I reach for a just hug
But the room is getting colder

I hug you oh so tight
With my arms around your waste
I ask again if you're alright
But you walk away in a haste

I give in, and walk back to my chair
Trying to figuire out what's wrong
I sit at my computer and stare
somethings been bothering you for so long

When I ask, you walk away
As if you didn't hear me
Or just had nothing to say
Get it off your chest, set it free

Let me know what is going on
For I'm no good at reading minds
And I have no idea what is wrong
I'm just going through this half blind

So tell me my dear
What else can I do
For my greatest fear
Is the chance of losing you
