DreamA Poem by Norma GonzalezDon't let those choose your dream, you decide what you want to be
You've been taught to follow their rules
As long as you live under their roof No matter what, they know what's best They give you that stare They give you those words They know what's right as always When you come of age and begin to think They put things in your head They want a "doctor" to cure their illness They want a "lawyer" to save their sentence They want a "architect" to build their dream home What they all have in common is the "money" The "money" that will not give us happiness To please your idols you do what they say Yet you dream to be a "musician" You dream to be a "writer" You dream to be a "film director" You dream to be a "singer" You dream to be someone else All those years of wasted time And all those headaches you have held You have finally granted their wish But what of yours? Don't fall in these same steps Choose your destiny And follow your dreams Don't let those stares, and words get to you They did their time, now it's yours Live at your own expectations And be happy in what you do That's all that matters You will see © 2014 Norma GonzalezReviews
