The MaskA Poem by Norma GonzalezThe mask who hides your true self
When you trust a person
You trust them blindfully Believing them to be genuine And most of all trustful Yet when they take off the mask They flee from their responsibilities And that's where you see their second face A face no one wants to see Ignorant to believe that true side of theirs Is like a "mask" that hides their true self I for being blind Have learned my lesson That 'thy shall not trust so easily' Although the mask may seem colorful from the outside Not everything is viewed in color Behind the mask it's just plain, as the reality of life Therefore, I shall be careful from those who wear a "mask" So that I in the end Shall not be taken "granted" © 2014 Norma Gonzalez |
