I smiled

I smiled

A Poem by Norma Gonzalez
"

A woman who lost everything

"
I had everything
Until I lost it
I took everything for granted
Until I lost everything

They don't know what I feel
Because I smile off the tears
The tears of sadness that overwhelms my fears

I smiled
So their wouldn't be any sympathy
I smiled
So that I don't seem pathetic

What they do not know is that I lost everything
And when I mean everything
I lost my family
In the camps of death
Yet, I still smiled
I smiled until my death

For the first time I smiled by the heart
Because I know I will meet them soon
I smiled for everything
I smiled for them
