From Hell to Maternity

From Hell to Maternity

A Poem by Norbanus

You ran away to seek adventure's thrill.

You're on the street, but we all feel the chill.

We do not grasp the reasons why you ran,

slept in a car, ate from a garbage can.

The babies came, first one, then two, now three.

To keep this up makes little sense to me.

We'll find a path to soothe the way you felt,

and make a better life than fate has dealt.

There is a place where all of you can thrive.

Come home lost girl, while you are still alive.

Oh my goodness do I ever relate to this..as one of my family members went through this..(all is okay now)
Your poem gave me chills..so..so good..
I am shocked to see that 365 Views and only 5 reviews..Shame on all those non-reviewers out there!!
Taking the time to write a review can only help one become a better poet...but perhaps the non-reviewers don't want to improve..

Thanks for the positive response, Pete. I appreciate it very much.
Beautiful and tender poem. It touched my heart. The eloquent words speak to all “lost girls”- hopefully they and their babies find the kind of love and home this poet describes....Lovely form, flow, cadence, rhyme - last two lines are deeply moving. Kudos my friend!

Thank you so much for the lovely review, Annette.
This is incredibly powerful! Wow! Knocked my socks off & reminded me of my sister & some friends who took this route -- exactly as you describe it. The title is brilliant & the rest is thought-provoking (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A lady in turmoil
As the crowd may stand
Until a man of true chivalry
Finds it in his heart
To clothe the naked part of herself
Loving and nurturing the pain she felt
Tonight or tomorrow all the same
As the lost soul finds shelter
in a man's heart
