daughter of the moonA Story by norajesusA part of the dark side she was, belonging to the mysterious side of moon; for the sun never touched her skin. The woods as her sweetest home at the hours of darkness, and the cave as her shelter when the sun rises. She learned not to speak the language of human, she only could speak to creatures may be different from her in form, yet so similar in thoughts. her form? What was her form? She could not know, for she may be a part human, the other part was not, she knew at heart. She was not a monster, though she seemed as one. She was not a monster ,she was sure. For she loved and laughed, she wondered and prayed. She prayed her loneliness would come to an end. She was lonely despite having a family, A family that consisted of owls and wombats. She longed for a different kind of companionship. At one night she prayed for the lord she knew was watching; "O, lord, help me to be thy faithful follower. Help me to show loving kindness to nature. Make my heart a place of peace. Dear God, who watches over me, help me to grow in goodness.." before she could finish her prayer. She heard a voice, a voice that was so unfamiliar to her, unusual to the woods. There was something, something that is strange. Yet it was a marvelous news, for this may be her gift from lord. A partner, her Adam. Her pair. Just like her family of owls. Each was in a pair. She finally can belong she thought rushing towards the echo. it was true, it was magic; There he was. A beautiful young man, with eyes as walnuts. He seemed lost, she thought as she was watching him behind the tree. He seemed misplaced, misguided. She did not know how to reveal herself, she never met a man before. Her hands were shaking as never before. This was the moment, the moment she waited for. She prayed for him, she prayed nights and nights for her Adam. There was no time to waste. She took steps towards him as he was leaning in to grab objects he seemed to drop. As she was getting closer, she got more nervous; A feeling she never experienced before. Screaming grew louder and louder as she was getting closer. It seems that he was not delighted with what he saw. It took her couple of seconds to realize the screaming was because of her. Her face? Her body? Her whole? She was not pleasing to his eyes. Her pale skin and whitish eyes were not pleasing. It was not what she pictured it to be. It was not as how birds meet and fall in love. It was not like how owls taught her about love, no one ever mentioned this to her. No one ever told her that her looks might have been an issue. She ran away as far as she could, with tears drowning her face, she stood in shock while her breathing was out of race, why was this happening to her she wondered as she gazed at her reflection on the surface of the lake, "with such face, how could I be loved" she answered herself© 2015 norajesus |
