My Simple Statement

My Simple Statement

A Poem by mae23

I love you.

There. I said it.

I know, it’s crazy. You think I’m crazy.

But I’m not.

I know how I feel. I have for a long time now.

It’s just that now is the first time I’ve gathered up enough courage to tell you.

And now that I have, I wish I’d have told you everyday that I knew it myself.

A realistic poem. All of us have missed the chance to tell someone we loved them. Kind, sweet and wonderful words for love. Thank you Mae for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you so much
Sometimes we simply need to be braver and speak what's in our hearts

Very nicely put. Thank you
This is breathtaking for such a short piece. I love the way it feels gut-level honest, complete with all the hesitations of saying this, well crafted with short stuttering phrases. The last line is what gives this whole thing an incredible impact. It's an original way of reminding us to do this without it sounding cliché.

Thank you very much!
This is so short and so sweet. You made me remember the first time I ever said those words.

There's something magical about them isn't there?
