Between Christ & Country
Somewhere between Christ & country I find myself trapped in this layer of soot This dark sticky vibe that travels and hides in the shadows of your truest opinion What you really think is we aren’t half as bright as you thought we were ten thousand years ago when we started this thing but my light still shines… Even in my own mind I sometimes doubt my own self worth suddenly struck by this destructive self conditioning so cleverly bred into me through generations of mistrust, lust and hate So I ask… what happened to the generation gap? I can see it right in front of me caught somewhere between Christ & country my ten year old son knowing the sin from the Son further separated from self that is the essence of self in fatal attempts to blend into that “God’s country” way of thought or could that just be the condition conditioning me into the false belief that something must be wrong with what I see.. See.. it doesn’t take a conspiracy nor a theory to commit a conspiracy so complete as this deep seated feat As people we live what we learn if you are taught that I am less than you and I am taught that I am less than you too what more need a man do? Don’t confuse yourself with the things that we’re told cause I hear it a lot we’re told that we’re equal but we’re taught that we’re not so which is the truth and which is the plot If you’re the misfortunate.. I’ll have to say not Else ninety five percent of the world’s wealth wouldn’t be controlled by less than ten percent of it’s population half of which happened to be U.S. citizens now ain’t that something to be proud of… Somewhere between Christ & country history is summoning all it’s strength trying to hold this thing together hanging on by a thread History has been sewn and sewn again So many times over That it’s become hard to tell.. the water from the well How long can I go on hoping that the inside of me Touches deep inside of you changing all that is blue into all that is true into something all new Somewhere between Christ & country here I stand one foot in the Mississippi on foot in the Nile I hold the Sun in my hands and I am blind.
