dream girl

dream girl

A Poem by nocool

She is asleep

She is off dancing among the stars

Playing with Orion’s belt

Caught by Sagittarius’s arrow

Wishing that fancy cupid to hell

She is off in the distant night

Please dream girl dream of me tonight

She is to me,

that unreachable apple

Swinging high in life’s tree

But I still reach for that girl

As she is off in a dream

Oh please dream of me

When the shadows dance on her walls

When they make her heart race in the moon light

Have her holding back her fearful calls

I come to you in thoughts during the night

My playground shoes, plastic sword, ready for the demons I need to fight

When you are off and feel the spray of spring wind

That was my kiss

I blew it to you again

Oh dream girl

Find me

Oh dream girl

Dream of me

Look at the stars and wish for me

An interesting piece. Some sections stand out more than others, but that's quite usual and generally, the rest of the poem enhances these parts. "She is to me, that unreachable apple, Swinging high in life’s tree" is a wonderful metaphor but the part I actually like the best is "My playground shoes, plastic sword, ready for the demons I need to fight" because of the humour but for a more important reason: yes, in a partner, you want someone who can protect you and fight for you, but you also want someone who can make you laugh (and this part made me laugh but it also suggests that the person is daft in a good way and that's what you want to find in someone - their daftness that matches your own). :) Great piece.
