Your Scarf of LaceA Poem by TaylorA poem about teen suicide and abusive relationships.
Is there meaning in your eyes?
No? How about when they meet mine? Is there meaning behind your lips, beyond the cries? I see your purple skin, you are not fine. Is there a truth behind his hands? The ones that have covered up your face. Is it right to not when everyone stands? For once, tell me, what hides beyond your scarf of lace. I never like the color purple. It makes me cringe. All we do is run in a circle. But I see you, I know you binge. Can you tell me? Do you know? It, them, him can you see? Or are you too afraid to show? I'm not giving up, Until you smile But I hear you drop the cup, And I can smell the vile. I guess you weren't string enough, And too afraid. He was too tough, So you would rather fade. You were gone, Before we could talk. Like a little fawn, You failed to walk. You are dead. Unlike dawn this was not foreseen. And now nothing I tried, nothing I did, and nothing I said, Would ever get through because you're just another dead teen. -Taylor Pennington -March 24, 2017 © 2017 Taylor |
