SubtleA Poem by not_todayum um um um um um um um whatWe were sorted based off of what we read Of course you read the same thing I did Because that's just life You're one of the few people I would talk to in our group I'm about to start talking And you start the conversation Excuse me- Wha- How- Who- Why You start talking to anyone listening I'll always listen to you You say something about what he just did I reply with a joke All of my social abilities revolve around humor You laugh I've never heard that laugh from you I've heard you laugh with your friends It's loud But still amazing This laugh It was subtle But it lasted a while Like you meant it You look up halfway To see me laughing with you The subtle eye contact Made me so happy I haven't felt this happy in so long Because you held my gaze For a little longer than normal They wave their hands between our eyes Hello? Snap back to reality Oh there goes gravity We look at them for a second and laugh But we end up making more eye contact As I lean against the wall behind me Your eyes go wide I just leaned against the chalkboard I erased some of the writing I start to laugh And you laugh the new laugh That I'd never heard until today That I've only heard you use With me It's like that beautiful laugh was assigned to me And I couldn't ask for a better one It's sweet Kind of loud Kind of quiet And subtle
