Left

Left

A Poem by Daisy Jane

I'll always remember the sound of the door slipping out of my hands

and slamming behind me as I stood at the top of the stairs and watched you walk away

Telling you to go to her was the first strong thing I'd ever done

Realizing that you would have gone anyway was the last thing I ever expected you to do

I collapsed

Beneath the weight of you leaving

The wind splashed dry leaves against the stairs

as I whispered quiet I love yous to the cold concrete

and pleaded with the darkness

:'(

Never have long sentences

made me so sad.

A true poetic mistress of words. I loved this.
