With Colours Gone

With Colours Gone

A Poem by nj coleman
"

reflective poem

"
With colours gone
Grey, forlorn
The sky a puddle, muddy morn
I have no tears
I give thee thorns.

Where laughter lived
To once exist
The room aswirl, silent cyst
I have no tears
I give thee mist.

When passion played
And love was made
Fingers clasped and grasped in vain
I have no tears
I give thee reign.

this was a very well-written piece that explores the interplay of what is on the outside and what is on the inside. the winter, grey and gloomy is described immaculately 'With colours gone / Grey, forlorn' a great couplet. and the change of perspective, delving into the persona's mind was natural. this verse was held together by a lyrical style that is easy on the ear. overall, it is a delicate, melancholic vignette.

Sadness comes through with every line. Your poetic expression is beautiful and your final line adds even more value.

I could never even hope to diagnose a poem as well as Ern! I only know what I feel when reading.
I see the author staring out a window at the dreariness of the day, no color, wet, the soul lost and alone.
A family once existed with this soul and now is gone leaving only memories of the passion, love, and laughter once shared. This poem hurts my heart. It's a melancholy poem. Sometimes they're the best. I love this one!

some days are like that aren't they? grey and misty .. deeply felt your poem .. especially appreciate the closing ... "I give thee reign" ... wow! such sadness ... we become ill with things that will not relent .. but neither do our human hearts and passions .. such a poignant sadness says i

:) .......................
I see a lonely soul unsure of their feelings of a recent breakup. The dark day enhances dark feelings. I have been there many years ago as a young man and it brought those feelings back but aged wisdom and many years of a good relationship place it in perspective. It is a good journey through an understanding of sadness.

Thank you for your insightful review. It is much appreciated.
I love it. This poem powerfully evokes the crushing weight of grief. It has a melancholy and somewhat defiant tone.

Thank you for your kind review.
Yes, looking out the window at the sky and nature...but also the nature of life...we cry so many tears during our lives often we run out...
there are no more to cry...and all the love that is in vain....shed like blood from the heart.
THis is forlorn and moving.
good work.
