A Poem by Bleeding Ink Anthology
"

Is what it is.

"

A definitive moment when I realised I had truly lost you, and I couldn’t breathe.

Everything I remembered about you turned to the dust of an extinguished soul,

And my memory of your face became lost in the motion of my betrayal,

My moment of selfish realization in which I gave up all I had to hold,

And then I lost you to the stars and the wishes you told,

A whisper in the trees when I walk, a memory of the nights we had,

To be a star, brighter than others, but still definitive in my world,

To hold a spark and create a flame, my memory of ashes for you,

Something dark in my thoughts that peels the skin my flesh contains,

And I remember you, losing your breath and choking a final time,

The way I shed water when I dropped your head and stared,

I was too young for the realism but to far away for the pain.
