a dance

a dance

A Poem by Ryan Potvin
"

admiring the simple pleasures...

"
passing along
the quiet country road
a sleepy disposition
sneaks up through the corn fields

it seeps through
the thick summer atmosphere
and flirts unabashedly
with the spirit

the world is now speaking
in hushed tones
but, twirling formations take flight
spotted dark against the blue sky

they find voice within
the lethargy of the day
shaping their vision
before my eyes

the sun, a pensive thinker,
offers the spotlight to these performers
and with considerable control
they find their pattern:

dipping as one moving mass
they etch their presence
upon the stillness of the world
exposing a grace within
their relentless movement,

and just before diving
into the lush green
they rise swiftly,
silently, in beautiful symphony

and their dance, sharply elegant,
explores a scene with no story,
no reason to coax the world
for manifested emotion,

they satisfy this moment
content upon providing a traveler in pursuit
a pleasure rich in the weightlessness
of a bond sealed by the performance
