Sons Of Mine...A Poem by nivramReflections of a now father from his childhood perspective.A boy stands in the shadow of a man. His tiny silhouette looms large in a mind in which he cannot escape. Out stretched arms fall short of their intended goal, a loving embrace remains but inches away. Silent tears flood the deepest parts of his sub-conscious, imagination and darkness becomes hi only refuge, his fortress, impenetrable to boogymen from his past.
Fear becomes his chosen weapons, while distant eyes fend off imposing questions....Still, answers never really satisfy the ever asking questions of a curious son.
Shadow boxing leaves bruises on an already batterd soul, eyes blackend by sucker punches thrown in the dark.A single tear falls, slowly blazing a trali towards defeat, while screaming men stand in judgement of childhood mistakes.
Insecurities land on the runway of his brokenheart, while self images sown in his youth reminds him that mirrors cut like glass.
Soul searching does no good, because the boys shadow ,is a constant reminder of his manhood.... © 2012 nivram |
