Night and Day

Night and Day

A Poem by The Dreamer
"

Based on Greek Myths

"

Nyx, Goddess of the night,

A paradox, when there is no light.

Your beauty, hidden in shadows,

Graceful, as green meadows.

Raised in the gloom, of Tartarus,

Forever accompanied, by Erebus,

You clothe the earth, with darkness

As stars bloom to be, your witness.

Hemera, Goddess of the day,

Your beauty, in a drop of golden ray.

Riding the sun - your chariot of fire:

The earth clothed in light; you never tire.

Daughter of Nyx, you are;

Not at peace with her, thus far.

You refuse to see, your mother:

Leaving with haste, when she comes hither.

Hence exist night and day:

To bring us light, and to take it away.

great poem the Greeks well not just them but all lore had a way of playing on relationships and feelings because the mother and daughter don't agree night and day are separate. in my country the people who first lived here believed that there was a chord by which you could climb to the sky but an angry woman cut the chord and earth and sky were apart ever since people from the sky got trapped down here these stories can really emphasize the importance of values and relations in an unreal awesome way

...so tranquil in it's beauty...so vast in it's wonder...:)
I love the photo... it was beautiful as was the story your poem portrayed...

I've always had a fondness for mythology, origins of things to be are different from every culture... like this one...

there's a another myth why there is day and night... (just a shortened version)

the sun had a fight with his wife, the moon... so angry that he threw bamboo shoots at her face, leaving pocked marks... the wife fled while the husband in remorse tried to amends by chasing her but refused to come back to him... the stars were their children.

beautiful imagery....made both light and day sound wonderful..
Usually poets consider night to be sad and day to be beautiful... Nice difference from normal.
