The Plea of an INSOMNIAC

The Plea of an INSOMNIAC

A Poem by The Dreamer
"

Written on a sleepless night....

"

Hypnos, please come to me soon,

I pine for you, in the light of the moon.

Lying on my bed, nestled in wool

Air on my face, moving so cool.

Ardently I wait, like a lover:

For you to come, into my bower.

Embrace me, fill me whole:

Drug my senses, and my soul.

Caress my limbs, feather light:

Until they rest, with no fight.

Kiss my eyes, so light:

Until they droop, and shut tight.

Conquer my consciousness, like a rake,

Don’t leave my side - until daybreak….

 Hypnos, I crave for thee,

Please make haste - come to me…..

The Dreamer
Hypnos is the God of sleep, or rather the personification of sleep, in Greek Mythology.

:D thanks a lot!!!
For writing such a poetic beauty,
I'm certain Hypnos will come for thee,
But if he doesn't, don't dwell in misery,
For what does he know of good poetry.....

OMG, this is the most prolific piece I've read on insomnia. It's usually a tirade about the aftereffects of no sleep! This is a charming lullaby of slumber. Pen on!

THANK YOU :D - glad you like it.
very good poem i like Greek myth. using hypnos, he's one of the minor gods and not much people know of him very good the metaphor of craving for hypnos is very effective most insomniacs would like to sleep but can't
