Ancestors/Father

Ancestors/Father

A Poem by nishantshah2381
"

My apologies for posting this write. It is in my national language "hindi" This write is a dedication for my father and ancestors. Have appended the translation of this along with the write .

"
Do panno me likhi hui baaten,
aaj bhi boukhla deti hai,
kya hua hoga us kalam ka,
jisne in shabdo ko sehlaya hoga.

Main bhi usi kinare baitha hoo,
jahan par kisine paani ke shyahi se,
usi kalam se in panno ko likha tha.

woh likhnewala bhi,
koi bir kabeer na tha,
par aaj bhi lehron me
usi kalam ke shabd sunai dete hai.
Translation (English)
On some few pages someone scripted these words,
But still i am always awestruck by reading it,
(I always keep thinking) What might happened to that quill,
which scripted some of this mind rattling words.
Even I am stranded at the same shores,
where someone had inked (the quill) with the dribs from ocean,
and with  same ink indited the same few pages.
Even the writer,
is not any beatific (saintly) person,
but still today, when the ridges reaches shores
I hear the same words scripted by that quill.

I get the feeling that this is really deep, but since I don't know anything about your ancestors or your father, it's sort of escaping me. Was he a writer?

Either way, this is still a really sweet thing of you to do and it's very poetic and enjoyable =) There's an element of mystique to all of your writing that I like.

I believe some things always stay with us.....the words, the feelings, some of them flow in our veins from generations....In Hindi, the words are so beautiful, so lyrical, very peaceful....' Har lehar samundar ki gehrai ko janti hai' (' each wave knows the depths of the sea') .....Beautiful piece.

Thank you for the poem. I wish I had time to go to the old counties. I would love to learn the ways of a great people with different ideas. Each culture look at the world with different eyes. A amazing poem.
