Predator

Predator

A Poem by nishantshah2381

Travailing under the dark skies,
she strolled through her realm.
with poise and the labyrinth mind,

Inhibiting the fathoms of night,
the silent steps galled her fate.
but still, she hounded the eternal land
trailing the laments of ape
and the fading cricket’s grime.

There, amidst the pensive woods,
she glimpsed the bevy
of the glistening eyes.
With intent she followed the glint,
and tried to abridge the famish mind.

Beneath the belligerent skies,
there the cervids stood unfazed.
some waited for the twilight to descend,
while some were predated by the fate.

With the slyness in every step,
she smelled the bracing air.
And when she drew near the grazing land,
she masqueraded herself
behind the shrubs of perennial time.

Then,after the long hiatus,
heeding the sound on the foliage
she flung the feeble in the air,
and clasped the antlers by her claws
and quivered the cervid till his last breath.

And then,
the dawn besieged the blemished night,
and she slumbered meekly on the dewy blade.
Every hour,
she waits for the same bleak night, (to descend)
and her eyes besets the insidious prey.
