A Poem by nishantshah2381

Penned on Februrary 22 2011

"

Why the sun brightens our sky?

or why there is a serene moonlight?

there are always some reasons,

but we always fail to understand.

And yesterday, when I met you at the cross lane,

the same sun brightened my day,

and the moonlight kept me awake.

On that night,

You shimmered like the starlet in the skies,

I followed you everywhere, even in your dreams

But somewhere, I was still lonely waiting for you

on that bench, where you dropped your earrings in twilight.

And today,

When I crossed your casket draped in black,

with the parish hymning His words of solace,

in vain, my infallible mind  tried to reason,

the same lunatic night and the aberrant sunlight

A good poem with effective contrasts that resound, good word choice.

A sad ending to strong poem. You started with great description and questions. Took walks and sat on benches. The casket draped in black turn the beauty of the sun and the brightness of the moon to pure darkness. A outstanding poem. I enjoyed your powerful poetry.

The ending is makes this different. It wasn't what I was expecting which made it creative and very well done. The details are clear and the I love the part about the moonlight.

I will be just repeating what has already been said.
