36 Questions

36 Questions

A Poem by Nisha M.
"

Love at first sight? Loving dangerously? Inspired by the viral NYT article, 36 Questions That Lead to Love.

"

I don’t need to ask you 36 questions

And I’d still want to see your face again

Is this love? Is this fate?

Oh, I don’t know, I don’t know

Oh, but I do know that I’m not afraid

I just don’t want this to be the end

You might be my next mistake

You might be my next heartbreak

Oh, but I don’t care, I don’t care

Right now, I won’t contemplate

Let’s see where this takes us,

I’m taking a risk but life is itself a dare

Take my hand today, love

Let’s run away from them all

I’d be willing to tear down my wall

I’d be by your side to hear your silent cries

For I see my tomorrow in your eyes

You might be my next mistake

You might be my next heartbreak

Oh, but I don’t care, I don’t care

Right now, I won’t contemplate

Let’s see where this takes us,

I’m taking a risk but life is itself a dare

We might be a tragedy

We might be the worst idea

But right now, all I want to do

Is to be in love with you

Oh, love, it’s true

You might be my next mistake

You might be my next heartbreak

Oh, but I don’t care, I don’t care

Right now, I won’t contemplate

I don't care if it's not fate

I just don't want to be too late

I've yet to ask you 36 questions

But I’d still want to see your face again

Something I wrote in 5 minutes! Might be because I was listening to Celine Dion’s love songs but I’m getting the ‘I might be heartbroken but let’s leave that for another day' vibe. You’ve got to take risks in everything you do anyway. See: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/11/fashion/no-37-big-wedding-or-small.html

Your poem is lyrical & has a strong musicality, so that I could hear this being made into a song. I agree with your strong message, even tho you offer it gently, why not take a risk? Nothing is certain, we always start out knowing nothing about a situation, so we can only participate to get to know any new person! Sometimes we have to plow thru some clowns, too. But it’s always worth a try becuz we learn lessons about ourselves, even if that other person ends up being a lesson we don’t care about! *smile* Your poem has a friendly carefree tone that encourages one to take a chance! One step at a time, live in the now and enjoy it for how it is now. Don't look ahead and complicate the issue. If we make mistakes, we can learn from them and move on. That's what I felt after reading your poem.

Thank you Nisha.
