Liberated

Liberated

A Poem by Nisha M.
"

It's okay to make mistakes, you're only human.

"

They say I’m not good enough for them

I used to agree
But then I asked myself,
Why should I let their opinions define me?

They say I’m a waste of their time,

I used to think being myself was a crime
But then I realised,
I’m better off at home sipping tea

If they think my mistakes left a stain

If they think I’d drown in pain

If they think I won’t pick myself up again
It’s time they realise it’s not the end
For I feel refreshed after every rain

I wear my scars proudly
For they remind me of my strength

I carry my imperfections steadily
For they remind me that I’m only human

I’m feeling better, I’m feeling happier

They do not mean anything to me

For ages, I’ve been confined in my prison of insecurities,

But today,

Today, I decided to set myself free

Uplifting to read, recognition of one's own insecurities and dealing with them instead of letting them take over. That takes courage. nice read.
