SacrificeA Poem by Nisha M.Everyone is struggling - Be kind!
All-nighters and migraines Glaring computer lights and continuous eye strains Breaking down again and again Close to becoming tragically insane She can’t stop now She had to make her parents proud
Pretending her low self-esteem wasn’t engulfing her
And that her endless worries weren't screaming out loud
She remembered that one day when she had sunk She binge-ate on nothing but trash and junk Vomited, helpless, she was crashing down Barely alive, she was good as dead on the ground Crying and screaming in silence
Feeling like the best thing was to give up
A pessimist, telling herself she’d never reach the top Convincing herself that if she had nothing at all
Then it’s only logical that she could never screw up
They took it that her journey was always easy
They assumed she had been smart from day one
But they had not witnessed her struggles and anxiety Had she never sacrificed herself, she would have left with none © 2018 Nisha M.Author's Note
