I Still Can't Have YouA Poem by Nisha M.My favourite writing. The French phrase which I thought suited this piece is La Douleur Exquise. Are you here? I feel trapped by your presence Your reflection greets in front of me, Your warm breaths linger behind me, Yet you never seem to appear before me I held out my hand for you So you never have to feel lonely I held out my heart for you Hoping that one day you’ll see me This illusion plays with my mind I bring my steps closer, closer But it takes me nowhere Because it is you that I can’t find No matter how hard I try How many times I cry, However far I run, I still come undone I only leave myself bruised And I still can’t have you You’re so near, I see your footsteps Until the rain erases them with no traces of doubt You’re so close, I hear your soft voice Until the thunderstorm comes to drown it out I bring my steps closer, closer But it leads me nowhere In the end, it is you that I can’t find Won’t you appear before me? Won’t you let me see you? I won’t be able to take it any longer You’re getting further, I can’t get closer In the end, I only leave myself bruised Because I still can’t have you You’re no fantasy, you’re reality But you only remain a dream to me Because even after everything I’ve gone through, I still can’t have you. © 2018 Nisha M.Author's Note
