Rain on my ParadeA Poem by James Takeo Panton
I stand alone, where I stand best
And do the best I can
I try hard, and sometimes succeed
Even though I am one man
Sometimes my strength is of ten men
And my will as strong as mountains
Sometimes these words, they tumble out
And flow forth like a fountain
I’ve done so much, with much to say
And some enjoy these words
To those I give my thanks and greetings
For making me feel less absurd
I would not now be where I am
Without a path that is straight and true
So many things I’ve to tell about
So many things to do
But once in a while, that path is blocked
By those that choose to judge me
Based on their own prejudices
Their words shall not come to budge me
The road to hell is surely paved
With the best of intentions
But judge me not by your own way
And ask me not for attention
My parade marches on, and forward goes
As I keep doing what I do
I appreciate your kind efforts
But please stick to what you do
