Every Night, Its HalloweenA Poem by James Takeo PantonEvery night, it’s Hallowe’en In a shady part of town
The lights will never shine there
And the streets are all run-down
Empty darkened windows
Peer out like soulless eyes
No moon will shine so brightly
No stars above in skies
Vampires paint their faces
In ghoulish ghastly glow
Seeking out new victims
And taking from their flow
They saunter down the side-street
Enticing unwary prey
And dare not to be exposed
In the light of long-gone day
Junked-out zombies wander
Seek what they come to score
And all their soul is decayed
Yet they search for more
Gaunt and thin and haunting
Hunting for their prey
For they shall always find it
In their time and way
White werewolves are prowling
Cruising as they growl
And far off in the distance
Another one will howl
With glowing eyes, red and blue
They hunt alone and in a pack
And when they’ve pounced upon you
You shall not be returning back
Every night, it’s Hallowe’en
In a shady part of town
The lights will never shine there
And the streets are all run-down
And some may know it happens
Yet most turn and walk away
But this nightmare continues
Until it breaks with day
