Another Day In Paradise

Another Day In Paradise

A Poem by James Takeo Panton
"

I'm being sarcastic....

"

Quiet and conscious, the clock ticking by

I relax and I smoke and get a bit too high

Thumpings from upstairs, neighbours are home

Meanwhile I sit here, quite and alone

Only two felines and no signal on my phone

Though none would call it, and they leave me alone

Dinner is served from steaming hot foil

So is my day that I have free from toil

Usual things in usual ways
Brand new city, but my same old ways

Some are success, some not so well

But they shall be done in my time as well

I walk to the store, and stare at the sky

I simply do, no meaning to why

Convenience store glare, friendly and cheerful

Empty parking lot, making me fearful

Streets are unquiet and sore and tired

The lure of all things yet to be desired

Back to my home, so clean and so small

Away from the world, away from it all

And settle down on couch, and end this day

Same old scene, just a different day
