After Long Uninterrupted SilenceA Poem by James Takeo Panton
After long uninterrupted silence Do my thoughts within now dwell
And all the clandestine secrets Are tales I shall not tell
I become insightful and insideful Beneath a furrowed brow
My thoughts, not to tomorrow
My thoughts are with me now
The plans, the goals, the schemes I’ve made Deep and dark do they now run
Of all the things I’ve said and been Of all the things I’ve done
And yet tomorrow awaits me
And with it, comes a dawn
It gives me strength of character It gives me strength to carry on This monastic life that I lead Of habit and solitude
My joys will be forthcoming
And my faith will be renewed
That all the labours I indulge And these secrets I possess
Pale now the worried doubts
That soon I will address
The simplicity that has become All the things I do each day
Shall bring me ever closer
To newer means and ways
Of becoming what I strive for
And the dreams my heart desires The love that awaits so far from me The hopes that burn like fires Shall only be a passing stage
Within this life I lead
To gain all I wish and want for And all I ever need
