It Comes, With Sharp TeethA Poem by James Takeo Panton
It comes, with sharp teeth
To bite and rip apart
It comes, with claws gleaming
To tear and mutilate
Eyes that burn like fires
Growl shakes the earth
Pounding, smashing feet
Trample all before it
It comes, and makes the shadow
Of despair and fear and loathing
It spreads its darkness everywhere
And turns all to stone and death
And burns the lands around it
And consumes every living thing
It silences the birds, so they cannot sing
It withers the flowers, so they do not bloom
It kills the grass, so it will not grow
It destroys lives, so they cannot go
It comes, closer, sooner
It comes, tramping, stamping
It comes, darker, darkest
It comes, bleak and blackness
It comes
Gnashing
Snarling
Growling
Howling
Biting
Fighting
Clawing
Crawling
Slouching
Slumping
Rolling
Cutting
Gouging
Bleeding
Tearing
Ripping
Slicing
Vicious
Malicious
Hideous
Darkening
Maiming
Torturing
Killing
Death and decay await and travel with it
It comes…
