Night Bike Ride

Night Bike Ride

A Poem by James Takeo Panton
"

I like to ride my BMX at night......

"

Full moon has risen, burning bright
Illuminating these dark streets at night
Bugs will chirp and sing their song
Make soft noise all the evening long
As small fat tires roll under feet
iPod blaring heavy beat
Down darkened paths of suburban maze
In April night’s dark blue haze
Gleaming tires beneath streetlight
Making headway through the night
Across the town and through the park
Rolling swiftly cutting through the dark
Down silent streets like prowler roam
To all the longer pathways home
And think and see and roll and go
Yet disconnected from all I know
I am so there, yet am so far
Rolling beneath the distant stars
Moon is full and lights the way
Away from the path of the ended day
Onward, forward, into the night
On black BMX, I roll out of sight…

Very good rhyming, the flow was nice...but it did seem to stumble a bit toward the end. I do like the imagery, one can almost feel the night air.
