The Last NightsA Poem by James Takeo PantonI've said it before, and i shall say it again....I can't wait to get out of here...yet, there those things here that are part of me that shall forever remain......
Last nights in this town
Never again
Remembering all the times when
The streets that I walked
And corners so dark
The times I sat smoking alone in the park
The clubs I went to
The girls that were there
The smell of the rain that came in the air
Dark nights and streets
Sounds and sight
All resurrected on these my last nights
The ones I had known
And soon they’ll be gone
All living lives here that they carry on
And I wasn’t there
Did not make a name
Did not come here and found fortune and fame
So I travel alone
Just like my first nights
And walked all alone and seen all the sights
Blocks full of bars
Secret tiny places
Where once I’d stood smoking in those dark spaces
Alone once again
Leave as I came
Now I have been here, I won’t be the same
