The Return

The Return

A Poem by James Takeo Panton

Back….back home…again…

The flood begins to fill me dreamily as my hopes and fears and joys and sorrows of all I know return to me....

The questions and doubts and fears that always linger still remain, cold and now unburied:

Was it worth the effort?
Does it remain the same?
Did it change at all, does it remain the same?
Will I still sear with anger
Whenever they walk by
Will I tear with sadness
Will I return to cry?
Is it any different now?
Has it really changed?
Who am I to question
The fate handed to me?

Is this what I really want?
Is this a mistake?
Is this my grim reward
Or my dark triumphant return?

Will she still feel the same
After I come back
Was this never even an answer
That I needed to to seek so far away?
Will I still burn with anger
After all that has gone
Will I still find a hope unfound
At the end of each new day

Will I dream the dream again
And let it not fade away?
