Full of Want, Full of Need

Full of Want, Full of Need

A Poem by James Takeo Panton

Full of want and full of need
Time goes slow and without speed
So far away, useless, and gaunt
The fear returns, to me it haunts
Miles from here, promises to keep
My mind grows silent, dark, and deep
What to be done, this task at hand
Crossing over this great land
To what I knew, and have despised
Yet from here is my great prize
My greatest love spawned in my greatest hate
I pray my efforts may not come too late
Before I shed my mortal coil
And end my days of trouble and toil
But what I find is troubling so
The miles that are mine that I must go
The time grows short, close at hand
To come across this empty land
To where I know, these hidden places
These empty voices, these familiar faces
And yet again delve into a gloomy storm
To find you there, and keep you warm
And not from harm I will promise thee
Keep you close right beside me
And together brave and soldier on
And keep journeying towards each new dawn
But until then, here I must wait
This time that comes, I anticipate
And here I lie, alone and undone
In a land of midnight sun
Far from you where I should be
To keep you there so close to me

…….
