After Tomorrow

After Tomorrow

A Poem by James Takeo Panton

After tomorrow
Good things shall be
My heart shall be open
My love shall be free
The best-laid plans
Shall come to fruition
The end now draws near
Of this long hard mission
The place and the time
Have been set in their place
Then we shall meet
Then we shall be in that space
Crossing miles and distance
Further than we had planned
Across these great miles
Across this far land
Time grow short
Anticipation runs fast
This long time of waiting
Shall no longer last
This time we spend apart
Brings us closer together
Our hearts, they are tied
By my love’s tether
Not even the lands
Will keep us apart
This is not the ending
It is only the start
Our hearts shall be free
Of pain, loneliness, and sorrow
But not yet today
After tomorrow
