Between Worlds

Her lungs squeezed as her mother’s protruding stomach rested on hers while she embraced the woman that gave her life
“I got the job mummy, it’s a white man”, she said, pacing around.
“I can’t believe it, the man fine well, well ehn!” she said. Thrilled, her mum stood up instantly, as if the world came to a stop. She grabbed her hands and dragged her to the worn out chair on the corridor
“How is that possible? I thought there were educated and more qualified people at the interview” she said, curious. Seeing her daughter beam with happiness filled her heart with joy.
