A Story by Shatteredheart
"

sooo sorry it took so long for those who were waiting

"

I rubbed the back of my head, feeling a dull pain.
"Um...who are you?" I paused, looking around, realizing Flint had left,
"Where’s Flint?"
"I’m Sophia, Flint's older sister." she replied flatly.
She looked nothing like Flint though. Her hair was long, strait blonde with red and black highlights pulled up in a high ponytail, probably to show off her big candy apple red hooped earrings. She wore a red top with black fishnet sleeves and a black and red miniskirt. To top off her ensemble she had on black platform boots that stopped above her knees. Her facial features were very soft until you looked at her piercing eyes; they were dark blue, like looking into the depths of the ocean. She was beautiful like Flint in a way, but her unnatural beauty and her extremely pale skin was the only shared traits that I could find.
"What? You don’t see any resemblance?" she tilted her head to the side, waiting for my response.
I replied,
"No, not really."
Sophia's blank expression exploded into joy as she said,
"Most people I ask that are too intimidated by me to ever disagree."
She walked over to the sofa and waved her hand for me to join her. I slide off the side of the bed and just about fell before Sophia was at my side in all but a second, steadying me.
"Maybe you should stay in one place for a while, sorry about your head." She said worried, then added,
"I didn’t mean to hit you so hard, Amber, it was blind fury I should have saved for Flint."
I jerked my head up.
"You hit me?" I added curiously, “What did Flint do exactly to make you hit me so hard?"
Sophia sat me down on the bed, and then took her place next to me.
"Do you remember anything before waking up here, Amber?" Sophia looked at the wall avoiding my gaze. I opened my mouth slightly to answer obviously, yes, but I couldn't. I couldn't remember most of my life. I could remember little blurs of my life, like birthdays parties, my mom's face, but that was it and it was hard to hold the thoughts before they blurred out completely. I had no memory.
“I can’t remember anything at all." I said it more to myself then to Sophia, but she took it as a response and continued.
"Flint found you in an ally, thrown behind a dumpster. The smell of your blood is what initially caught his attention, but when he found you...."
She paused; the look on her face told me she was struggling to find the right thing to say.
"What you have to know, Amber, is that you were... um from your wounds, that I saw that is, you were...."
She looked at me, her eyes had faded to black, and the expression looked like a mournful pain from hell.
"Raped...." She said softly.
Her eyes began to fade ever slightly to their deep blue, as she searched my face for a reaction.
"I was raped?" I said it slowly, thinking it would help me believe it.
"Flint wiped your memory when he changed you because he didn’t want you to have to spend eternity with that as you last human memory.
"He wiped my memory?" Now I was more confused than ever.
"Well he didn’t really wipe your memory. He took them. When a vampire bites and changes a victim, they not only take their life but a personal possession as well, this way they are connected; the vampire and the victim on a deeper level. So in a way you belong to Flint now."
Sophia finished lightly, looking at me as if it were nothing but quickly continued, seeing the shock on my face.
"Flint won’t make you do anything, if that is what you’re thinking. Yes he can force his will apron you, that is what most male vampires do but Flint's initial intention was to save you not seduce you." Sophia laughed a little as she finished, which irritated me a bit.
"Flint isn't a perv but he has been eighteen for almost a hundred years, so try not to listen to him, in your head that is." She simply smiled as she finished.
"In my head?" I was sure she was messing with me now.
Sophia rolled her eyes,
"Yes, in your head, isn't that usually were you keep your thoughts?"
I gave her a blank look.
"You and Flint can hear each other’s thoughts and can basically talk to each other any time, no matter where you are. All vampires have another half..." Sophia trailed off.
She looked away from me her eyes turning white, her face literally blank.
"Sophia?" I nudged her arm gently.
She must have been lost in her own world because my touch shocked her so much that she snapped her head at me, eyes a toxic green and snarled. I inched away from her slightly, but eased my tension when I saw her eyes turn to their majestic blue as she got up and walked over to the fireplace, arms folded. I knew there was something about Sophia but also knew it wasn't my place to ask so I tried to change subjects.
"Um...Sophia how do I talk to Flint exactly?"
That must have done it, for Sophia turned as spontaneous as ever and almost skipped back to my bed. She sat back beside me with a pleasant little plop as she replied,
"All you have to do is thinking of him, and then say something."
Sophia watched me as I turned to the wall and stared at one of the roses.
How do I think of him, exactly? His dark hair that makes the night look grey or his perfect face that puts any movie star to shame or maybe his body, sculpted strait from the Renaissance.
“Thank you Amber, I am glad you think I am so attractive, but I could hear when you thought of that red rose on your wall.”
"Oh." I almost jumped at his voice in my head.
"I told you, what did you say?" Sophia grinned, edging closer.
She looked like a child waiting for the climax of her favorite fairytale. I tilted my head side-ways,
"Does Flint usually share his thoughts with you?" I asked.
Sophia leaned away and shook her head; her earrings didn’t sway with her. I smiled,
"Then I guess I can’t share mine either."
I smiled now, showing my fangs.
“Nicely done, Tell Sophia I am almost home. I will be with you soon my dear.”
“Why do I have to tell her? Why can’t you?”
“I did not bite her, love.”

I crossed my arms, sighing out loud,
“Fine.”
I turned to Sophia,
"Flint said he will be home soon and that thoughts belong to themselves and their other half."
I so wished I had not added that second half, as Sophia's eyes swirled from their beautiful blue to that stomach turning green.
"Well I try to help him, by taking care of you, and that is how he decides to talk to me?"
“You just got me into loads of trouble you know that?”
I listen to Flint's words as I watch Sophia's body shake were she was next to me.
“What is she going to do?”
I heard Flint sigh,
“Are her eyes green?”
“Uh do I have to answer honestly?”
“Amber, she might kill me, she really will!”
I thought of Sophia laying a hand on Flint, and felt and uncontrollable snarl emit from behind my fangs. Sophia looked at me, confused, and then in a whisper of wind she was gone.
“I didn't mean to growl at her, I just,” Flint interrupted my thought,
“It's normal for you to want to defend me and Vis versa. It is part of being connected to me but I can see your thoughts as well. You thought of more than one way of Sophia laying her hand on me...am I to assume that you...?”
“NO! I mean not that I don’t think your, but it's not like, I mean... ugh! I am not talking to you right now.
I began to think of a garden to take my thoughts from him.”

“I already told you,”
"I can see your thoughts too. It is beautiful, do you like gardens?"
Flint had walked through the door, changing his thought to speech mid-sentence.
"You can try and block me out, but..."
“I can still hear you.”
I could feel him emphasis each word he thought.
"I really would prefer to actually talk to you; the talking in my head thing is a bit strange to me."
You will get used to it, Love. It can be very.....interesting.”
"Why do you keep calling me love?" I watched him look away, and then he returned his amethyst eyes to me.
"Do you not like it; do you have a different name in mind?"
He looked so innocent as he said it that I could not help but laugh.
"It's not that I don’t like it, it’s that I want to know why."
I felt light-headed all of a sudden, so I crawled up my huge bed; laying side-ways on my pillow. I watched Flint sit down on the bed next to me.
“You need to feed Amber.”
“Do you have anything Italian; I love Italian, no offence.”
I decided to give in to the think-talk thing.
Flint raised an eyebrow, giving his face a quite confused look from that one motion.
“You do know you a vampire, right?”
Flint lay on the bed mirroring me, resting his head on his arm.
“Oh, yeah, so.... who do I get to bite?”
I licked my fangs, thinking of the red fluid flowing past my lips.
Flint chuckled,
“if I let you hunt it would be a blood bath.”
“Sounds yummy.” And it did.
Flint gave me a look that told me I would not be hunting anytime soon.
“ Well, then how am I supposed to feed if you won’t let me bite anyone?”
Flint's expression brightened,
“I didn’t say you not allowed to bite anyone; I said you’re not allowed to hunt.”
He leaned toward my face, holding me with his eyes. I thought he was going to kiss me as he lingered just a hair from my lips. I parted my lips, breathing in his scent. Flint then leaned away with a sigh.
“What's wrong?” I searched his face for an answer, feeling hurt and rejected.
I thought you said you don't think of me that way?” He smirked as my jaw dropped.
I hit him on the arm playfully,
“You already know my thoughts, so why are you so insistent on making me suffer?”
Flint leaned in again, not as close as before but enough to tempt me.
“I just want a clear answer.” He stared into my eyes.
“Well tell me if this is a clear enough answer.”
I slid onto him, kissing him forcefully. I could feel his hands moving slowly up my sides, holding me down onto him. I grabbed a handful of his hair as I forced my lips closer to his. Then he loosened his grip on my lower back.
“Amber....” I did pay any attention.
“Amber I need to breath. “ That time I heard him.
“Sorry“ I retreated from him quickly, hiding my face.
“Sorry? Why should you be sorry that was amazing, honestly that was my first real kiss.”
“Are you serious? You have never been kissed?”
Flint shook his head, sheepishly.
I burst out in a fit of giggles. Flint looked at me confused.
“Well, that definitely won’t be your last.”
Feeling light-headed again, I kissed Flint shortly before lying back down.
“I have to feed you. I’m sorry I got side-tracked.”
He held out his hand, wrist close to my mouth.
“You want me to bite you?” I looked at him, skeptic.
“Yes, is that a problem?”
I pushed his hand away, sitting up. I reached for his face, pulling him to me, and bit him neck.
“No, I just prefer to be classic.”
His blood was like nothing I had ever thought blood could taste like; honey-like and spicy on my tongue. As it flowed down my throat, it was like a flowing river of ice water. I was so lost in this new, intoxicating feeling that I didn’t hear Flint until he was screaming at me.
“Amber stop or you’re going to kill me!”
I released my fangs from his neck.
I studied the two holes in his neck, my minuscule work.
I looked up at him,
“Could I really kill you?”
Flint whispered, “No, I just wanted to kiss you some more.”
He laughed as I pulled him down, obligating his want and mine.
