Rotting Rose

Rotting Rose

A Poem by nightmask
"

a bot came up to me when I was in my free period on the computer and he gave me a flower which was almost dead and said "a pretty rose for a pretty lady."

"

Rotting rose

from your fingertips

green grows

and from your lips

those soft “hellos”

from the flower

drink it’s necter

hold me close

be my protector

I’m rotting on the floor

I’m only a rotting thorn

a corpse rose forevermore

but you pull me back to reality

you whisper “nevermore”

enganging my duality

my other side

the hidden one

the only one to see if you lied

and in actuality I know it’s true

your lover had already died

I’m just a pity petal

caught in the wind

 between your tired

fingers

all dried up and rotting

red as a bleeding tree

I linger then no further

and I’ve gotten what I deserved

a lonely heart

those empty words

that couldn’t be swerved

My body is a scrawny stem and yours of sturdy bark

you shield me well from daylight

you even like to stay up with me all through the dark

you hide me in the rain

 and even when we fight

we still share each others pain

your the only one who really knows me tonight
