Surprise

     "Who?'

     "Everyone!"

     "Really?"

     "Yeah! Everyone knows that sneak attacks are better than blowing down the door and alerting every single person inside!"

     "That's preposterous. How else are you supposed to make a grand villain entrance?"

     It's 2:56 am. Zavier and I are walking the halls of the IIEM, trying to find to find a distraction from the boredom that starts to creep in a few hours after everyone but us two insomniacs falls asleep. At least, that's how it feels sometimes.

     "Y'don't always need to show off, y'know," I say, mock scolding him.

     "It's not showing off. It's building my reputation. You're not a true villain if no one fears you."

     "You've plenty of reputation."

     "I would have to agree."

     The conversation dies out, and I realize how close we are as his hand brushes against mine.

     Out of the blue, he shoves me against the wall and kisses me, his body pressed up against mine. He pulls back and stares intently into my eyes. His hood has fallen off, his one slate eye looking into mine. The scar marring his other eye somehow makes him sexier.

     Just as suddenly, he yanks himself away like he's been burned. "Sorry, sorry," he mutters, turning away and pulling his hood back over his head. I'm paralyzed by shock as a stream of thoughts and adrenaline flood into my head. Did Darknight just kiss me? Isn't he like, my dad's age? Did I enjoy it?

     Zavier hesitates, then looks me straight in the eyes again. "I'm sorry. I won't do that again," he says simply, then turns and strides away. I stand there in bewilderment as my heart races and my half-mechanical brain tries to process what the hell just happened.
