PrefaceA Chapter by Locke Redwyne (night sys)Just so we're clear...
The Ravaged Realms (originally called the Otherworlds, the name may change again), is my world, where people, cultures, technology and politics join together from across time, creating a unique and wondrous world. Unfortunately, as in our world, evil sadly victors over good, but thankfully, the truly good do not stop, and keep fighting for a better world. Below are some key differences.
#1- People inhabit every planet, and many of the moons. Like I said, people are fighters. #2- Their solar system is different from ours, with different names of planets and moons, as well as time and seasons functioning differently. Their counting, time, and measuring tend to be based off of ten, which makes it a lot easier than here (Yes, I live in the US, but it's true that time has more of a 6-based measuring system all over the world). The few beings that have a different amount of phalanges will have different base systems, but those are by far in the minority. #3- Just because something is a plant, that does not mean that it is sentient. Many plants are aware of their surroundings and have another form that they take, an extension of themselves (think Ego from the MCU). Not all plants are, though, s watch what you talk to, or people will think that you're crazy) #4- There's something similar for animals. Some can speak the human language, and most speak languages that humans can learn, although humans are by far not in the majority of intelligent beings. Yes, there are crosses between humans and animals. Yes, mythical animals (to us) exist there. Don't look so surprised. You know me. #5- Not everywhere has a government. Some people govern themselves, and make rules that they enforce together, as a people, without the need for a leader. Some are brutal, and others are peaceful. Also, there tends to be 10 years of schooling (base-10 counting system and all that). #6- Gravity works differently. I would explain it, but as an English teacher of mine once said, that's way above my pay grade (aka I'm too stupid to even understand it myself, let alone tell you how). All I know is that it's possible to build a house on a vertical cliff face and live in it no differently had it been on the ground. #7- A note about season: not all places have all four seasons, and the seasons are different over there. There's the rainy season, the sunny season, and the cold season. Certain climates may have more, but those are seasons of nearly all climates. #8- There's more continents on what would be considered Earth than on our Earth. There's a reason for the nearly-universal base-10 counting system. There's ten planets. On what would be considered Earth, there's ten continents. #9- Don't get confused. If something doesn't make sense, go with it and leave a comment at the bottom. Note: fish-people = mermaids horse-people = centaurs bird-people = winged people rhino-horse people = unicorn-people bird-rhino-horse-people = pegasus-people horse-bird-people = alicorn-people snail-people = people who grow a snail shell that is not connected physically to their bodies, but is attached nonetheless there's more, I'll update this as I go...
