Standing In The Rain

Standing In The Rain

A Poem by Nigel Mim Avedon

Why time rhymes with rhyme,
Or why limes line the vine,
Purchase wine and a yellow dandelion,
Transformed from a swine to superfine,
I rehearsed a word and a punchline,
Why? Because that girl is super fine,
I took my change and hoped on a train,
Choo choo the loud sound left a stain,
I folded my arms simple and plain,
As I envisioned me in her world as small as a grain,
Come out! Escape! I needed to leave my brain,
The stories I would tell myself heavy as a crane,
Out the window there she stood,
Soaked and poetic standing in the rain....
