Imagine This PictureA Poem by Nico WiersemaA new poemImagine This Picture (July 2013) An old
white van was driving through an unknown place Some images
appear in a haze " we are not going anywhere Stop at the
tree covered lane They are together
waiting and waving to say all’s fine Then we stop
again and we’re in a car! I wonder
why we have never come so far I think we
got lost Now it’s time
to go home and see the light Enjoy the
sun and the brightness of the sea Or the rain In a place
where giant trees line the muddy roads to peace Where one
almost never feels unwanted Yes,
shadows loom - but are carefully cast aside Pastel
sights and sweet images of smiles cover The old
white van which seems to have gone It was just
an image in a limpid mist It’s really
time to travel east
