Chapter One: Headquaters

Chapter One: Headquaters

A Chapter by Nicole

A beautiful woman with stunning icy blue eyes looked out of place in the dark, grimy alley. Her stilettos clicked softly across the rough ashpalt, which was scattered with random pieces of trash, overflowing garbage cans, and a couple of anorexic-looking stray cats that lurked in the shadows. Her nose cringed in disgust at the unpleasant smells, so she qickly slipped inside the bar, a little closer to her destination. The protesting door finally creaked closed and the cool night air from outside suddenly became stuffy hot and uncomfortable. Men were roaring with laughter, talking in deep throaty voices, clinking glasses full of beer, and making obnoxious cat calls. Typical drunks. She ignored them, and focused on the stairs. If she didn't step on them exactly right, she would end up dead. This was after all the life of a spy, and even the tiniest mistake could mean life or death. It was like their unspoken motto: perfection or die. Simple enough.

Just breathe, I thought to myself. You've done this thousands of times, it shouldn't be any different now. But it was, no matter how hard i'd tried to convince my self that everything was fine, i still knew that something was terribly wrong. They wouldn't have canceled my up comming mission just to train newbies. No, definately not. I was the top in the business, the best agent the NYSA, and they needed me pronto. Thats why my legs were slightly shaking and that was simply unacceptable. I thought of Russel, and instantly my quivering limbs went statue-still. I pursed my lips and started climbing the stairs in the back of the noisy bar. Anger and numbness were the 2 best solutions in a spy's life. I choose anger. The thoughts i had been blocking for so long suddenly came rushing back into my mind like a roaring river. I continued to climb the long flight of steps steady as ever, hiting all the right pressure points on the splintery wood, and fuming about my once-upon-a-time fiancee. I reached the top, gripped the door knob tightly in my left hand, and waited a second for it to scan my hand print. As soon as it was completed, and before it started to burn my hand, I twisted the knob, shoved open the door, and was transported into another world that very few even knew existed.

You spelled "gripped" wrong, and "icy" haha...unless you meant a different kind of icy! But other than that it's GREAT!!! Haha what happened to your old world romance? Anyways love it! Can't wait for the rest!
