Words Unsaid

Words Unsaid

A Poem by Scarlett

She gazes up at me with sky blue eyes

Shining like sapphires,

Dripping diamonds,

Innocent and sweetly naïve,

Searching only for comfort in me.

Words drip from my lips,

falling to my feet-

Words she cannot comprehend.

They flash through my head-

Information, secrets,

Wisdom and guidance.

The intention of enlightenment,

The passage of knowledge.

But I can’t articulate,

The words are incoherent.

My mouth can’t enunciate,

Though I need her to hear it.

I wish I could tell her all that I know:

Always be strong,

Don’t make this mistake,

Admit when you’re wrong.

Please, for my sake.

Instead her eyes clear,

retreating beyond my reach,

Stealing the moment out of my hands.

I loved it. Though the construction is bright, the imagery is dark and dense. Thanks for that.
