EternityA Poem by Nick TWaste not this lifeThey say your life flashes before your eyes When Death grips you by the chest Hungry for souls that are not yet his. And when you are being dragged across the chasm You look back. Never look back! In the gorge between Eternity and the hands of the clock, One sees the world as God sees it. He does not see moments in succession Centered around the present, But all time, all at once. An eternal present, an eternal now, And all at once you, oh poor soul, gaze at your life. You are blessed with the sorrows of the most high Who sees your life and weeps, Weeps for the fool whom he still loves. A wasted life, a gift trampled on, But a chance, a chance you have! All have it, moment after moment For you see, God lives in one moment, one perfect moment But his gift to us are almost countless moments, One right after another to change. A second chance, a third, a fourth… Is there then, any excuse when we face our judgement? Is there then, any grief over the fool whose life was
wasted? © 2016 Nick TReviews
