Going, Gone

Going, Gone

A Poem by Nick T

My thoughts are testing me.

(Dark, cold, blurry, surreal)

I’m waking in a dream,

I dream of waking.

(Pale, cold, ice, oblivion)

There are places to walk,

A line drawn in the sand.

(Shivering, frost, falling, fading)

There is no light, no tunnel,

No place to flee.

(Walking, dreaming, dying, fright)

Where can I be, the sound,

The drum, the heartbeat.

(Mist, water, shores, wonders)

Ears are ringing, he's laughing,

Standing over me, smiling?

(Worry, fear, shivering, lying)

How have I lived?

Does it affect how I die?

(Banging, slamming, drumming, forthcoming)

It’s so cold now, so calm,

The end, it’s so, peaceful.

(Raving, raging, flaming, burning)

Can’t let go, so much to do,

Someone still to love.

(Fading, falling, blackening, forgetting)

Where is it, where’d I leave it?

Who will save me now?

(Colder, quieter, calmer, darker)

Not much longer now,

I can, almost, feel it, growing.

(Lesser, deeper, quieter, burning)

Not growing, but rather, the opposite.

I see it, Oblivion, it’s not a light!

(Shivering, forgotten, night, no stars)

It’s not a light, a darkness!

An ever pervading, primal, darkness!

(Going, leaving, forgotten, going,

Gone, gone, gone, gone...
