Clouded ThoughtsA Poem by Nick TNever fear for what will be, or what might beDark thoughts cloud my mind Of bitter people and bitter times, No light in the Darkness can I find The Wind, it howls and whines. The tears I shed are not for Thee, These fears of mine are mine alone. But I must admit, how I long to be free, Here without hope, only to weep and moan. Strange would it be if I were not here, Cold comfort I find in familiar things. Stranger won’t you lend me you ear, Won’t you bring me, from outside, warm tidings? You who stand and never fall are Normal Whereas we who fall, and fall often, are not? Learn this, friend: Life and her pains are formidable, And the fires of Hell are hot. You would think I’d do better, If only to reach sunnier shores. But alas I am stuck, a debtor To my own brains’ myths and lore’s. Fear traps us all in the end, Do we fear to fall; do we fear to rise? I see nothing coming ‘round the bend, Without a future, my hope, dies… © 2015 Nick T |
